Second the damage is smaller for a small mill or the other way round it's a disproportionately excessive crater for a bigger mill use a small mill.

WEBJun 30, 2015 · I mill my lift and break powder for 2 hours. Comet compositions for 11/2hrs. If I run my mill too fast the powder and3/4" lead balls heats up and causes clumping and balling up issues. If this happens I slow the mill down and run an extra 1/2 hour.

This does include charcoal stars as Mumbles mentioned, as they contain the same basic chemicals, but in a different ratio.
